Condition report and proposals for conservation of two K6 telephone kiosks.
Grade II listed and within the Sloane Square Conservation Area
Completed.
A pair of K6 telephone kiosks on western side of Sloane Square in front of the Royal Court Theatre designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott in 1936 were blocking a key view of the Cadogan Hall. The kiosks, as if often the case were highly valued by the local community as a symbol of iconic British industrial design.
A condition report was required to assess the condition of the telephone kiosks and the viability of moving the telephone boxes to a slightly different position on the same pavement during the proposed improvement works to the overall square. The kiosks are largely cast iron, glass and teak and can be brittle and subject to fracture.
