BRITISH MUSEUM

Two Georgian town houses converted from storage to commercial office space.

Grade II listed. Bloomsbury Conservation Area.

Completed.

The late Georgian properties owned by the British Museum had previously been used for storage and were converted into commercial office space for rent. It was paramount to carefully balance cost to ensure the economic viability of the project. The properties were in a poor condition at the beginning of the project and there was highly sensitive planning environment, so the outcome particularly satisfying.

The project involved the restoring of the fine decorative features and reclaiming the spaces as occupied rooms with modern amenities , fully reservicing the building, repair to the roof, and extensive repairs of the unsound balconies to the rear of the property.

Undertaken while an Associate for BDP London.
